The association “Caminhos da Infância” is a private social solidarity institution (Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social in Portuguese - IPSS) established in 2012 and aiming at studying, promoting and assessing, together with other similar institutions, specific social issues, in particular, those related with childhood. Our association was designed to work essentially on partnership, together with other institutions having already carried out work and research on the promotion and protection of childhood, as for instance, official and academic institutions.

The primary aim of “Caminhos da Infância” is the promotion and protection of children in their biological, psychological, affective and spiritual dimensions, taking into consideration their personal characteristics and thereby contributing for the mitigation of the discriminatory effects arising from different socio-economical-cultural backgrounds, towards a genuine culture of justice and solidarity.

Moreover, recognising the fact that the parents are the first and primary educators and acknowledging the family as the basic unit of a free, decent, humanizing and democratic society, we intend to work mainly in close collaboration with the family, facilitating the early intervention, always with a warm and welcoming approach.

Therefore, and in line with the Council of Europe Recommendation to support positive parenting (2006), our project rests on three structural pillars which together seek to increase awareness, to support and to serve the needs of the children and their families: CHILDHOOD: ONCE IN A LIFETIME  / BE PART OF THIS STORY / CIMM
